The search for the lost dress:

This is the story of two women who could not be more distinct to each other. The first was a very poor peasant woman born on February 6, 1933 in Littoria. The other was born in noble origins, born in Brussels even if she was a British citizen. This story is about a dress made by the iconic trio who were famous in Italy during the eras where cinema met fashion named Sorella Fontana. Every dress of that era that they made is a part of history. So this particular dress was made for Audery Hepburn when she came to Rome in 1952 for a movie called “Roman Holiday” and she was getting married to an English industrialist.

The dress was pure elegance and sobriety in ivory satin which was truly made for a princess. The dress was heavy ivory satin, with wide boat neckline, pleats of fabric to the front converging on a bow to the waist, three quarter sleeves, zip fastened to the back with a trained skirt, bust 36in and 26in waist.

Although that marriage never happened, that dress is still a part of history partly because it has seen generations and by adding the name of Fontana sisters with it makes it one of a kind. That dress years later was given to a poor girl named Amabile Altobello according to the request of Audery Herpburn to give it to someone as a gift who worked at that company and couldn’t afford a wedding dress. At that time Fontana sisters adjusted that dress and gave it to the girl for wedding day who worked there. That dress was kept in that family until the research had begun to look for that dress. In 2009, that dress was auctioned and sold for 12,000 euros from Solda family, although the dress was considered priceless and now is a part of a museum display.

From this story it is astonishing to see the emotional connections that gets associated with the products. I this case the product itself develops into the completely unrecognizable state from which it previously was but still it led to a search that finally got succeeded.
